If their new single “Through My Window” is any indication, Stud Count have what it takes to break through the punk underground into the mainstream. I’ve listened to their first works and their new single: there’s lots of hooks and attitude, as well as front person Norelle Green’s presence. with charisma to spare for capturing an audience.
The sound of this band from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania borrows from 80s punk and 90s pop, with catchy riffs and sassy lyrics. The video for “Through My Window” has tons of goofy charm, with a love story and a happy ending. The band, features Matthew Greene (Norelle’s husband) and Max D’Embra on guitars, Jake Beaver on bass, and Bret Harte on drums. The members of Stud Count come from various known bands, including Drill Sergeant, The Dividing Line, The Academy, Fluoride, Leashes, and Fixation.
While the earlier demos by Stud Count were raw and unpolished, though expertly played, the new single has a fuller sound, while maintaining the same power pop/punk hooks. Their debut album Stud Count will be out on Smartpunk Records, out of Florida, on July 22.
