I just received an email from Janis Salnajs, bassist and vocalist of Slovenia’s Jinho Jinza, who told me that once things open up there the band will continue work on their second album.

He writes:

“We are working on the material for the new album. We might record at our practice space as we would like to record as much live as possible.
The self isolation measures prevented us from going forward with that but Slovenia has just lifted most restrictions so we have started practicing again.”

The blues based punk band relies heavily on the visceral elements of rock and roll, so intimate contact is an essential part of their sound. Still, like the rest of us, they are at the mercy of the progress of our society’s efforts against COVID-19.

Salnajs continues: “In general we are taking it very slow so hard to say when the album will be done. Here in Slovenia the majority was adhering fully to the health safety measures, but it seems that a lot of people were missing going to bars and cafes as they immediately were meeting up again once the restrictions were loosened. Too fast for my taste as this thing is not yet over, with a vaccine still some time in the future.”

According to Salnajs, life has slowed down a bit until things get normalized. “We have all worked kept working through the crisis. Samo (guitars) and I from home and Matej (drums) with precautions in place at his business, so we were not affected that much.”

In the meantime here’s a song from the 2018 debut album by Jinho Jinza, a rockin’ tune simply called “Blues.”
