Pushing back against societal chaos, ska punk band Rundown Kreeps put their idealism on display in a song with twisty guitars, aggressive beats and passionate vocals. The video recording of the song ‘FC’ is raw and visceral, bearing a decidedly lo-fi aesthetic. In the best punk tradition, the lyrics balance poetic social criticism with inquiry.
“Where lies the bliss and beauty within the unknown/Is it love and guilt or flesh and bone?/Dreaded be the weight we carry through the vines of time/Accepting the pain of universal design“
From “FC” by Rundown Kreeps
As an energetic trio of Richard Lamas on guitar/vocals, Steven Lamas on drums, and Alan Escobar on bass, Rundown Kreeps are tight unit ready to storm stages with their guardedly optimistic message and badass blend of punk, ska, and psychobilly. By reclaiming a derogatory name, Rundown Kreeps break out of an identity that otherwise would let others define them.
The video for “FC” has an improvised feel, built on live performance. From earlier this year, the video “Big Bear” is a studio production, presenting another side of the band’s sound. “Big Bear” is from their 2023 full length album, Self Titled which features pop influences including organ played by Esteban Flores. Rundown Kreeps were formed in 2009 and are on the My Grito label.
