A five-piece band from Montgomery, Alabama, Abusements deliver straightforward punk rock and roll. Built on a three chord structure, their raging new single “Buzzkill” depicts a striving against anxiety and disappointment.
Abusements formed in 2017, and their current lineup features players spanning four decades. They are Todd Souvignier (aka DJ Fake Name), on vocals and guitar, musical director Dominique Bradley Sr. on drums, Lyra Lyricat on bass, Wil Evans on guitar, and Jay Hensley, also on guitar. “Buzzkill” is the first single from their upcoming album Grievance Beerwater Revival, 10 tracks featuring social criticism and satire around political figures and industry leaders.
Earlier video singles like “Space Nazis,” “Uncle Dude,” “Haircut,” and “Rat” demonstrate raging guitars, skillful riffing, relentless beats and irreverent humor. Some of the songs on Grievance Beerwater Revival are B-sides from earlier singles, now getting their own album. Grievance Beerwater Revival will release on September 10, 2024, on American Leather Records.
