The latest video from Martin Bisi is “Mystery Of The Skin Suit.” Just like the tune, from his latest album Feral Myths, the video has spooky vibes, all derived from the echoey chambers of the reverb vaults in Bisi’s legendary studios.

The video  for “Mystery of The Skin Suit” features a mysterious lady, Mág Ne Tá Z’air, in scenes of witchcraft with candles, and also with Bisi pursuing her in a New York scenescape. Z’air, whose vocals are on the track, also directed and edited the video.

Martin Bisi With “Mystery Of The Skin Suit”

It’s a post punk adventure from a guy whose studio brought you music from Brian Eno, Herbie Hancock, and Sonic Youth in various ways. In regards to the sound of the track, Bisi told me of his recent recording techniques, that he favors using a Neumann U87 mic and then treating the vocal track later.

Bisi said: “The processing effects have to go almost song by song…There’s so much that can be done in the production itself. I used to experiment a lot more with different mics, but now it’s much easier to control after the fact. So I favor just getting something that has a lot of presence, which the U87 does. And then if we need to Lo-Fi it or whatever, we can do that later. And that’s maybe better — one thing at a time.”

The care that Bisi takes for the production of a track is present in “The Mystery Of The Skin Suit.” It’s worth a few listens, at least!
