By Keith Walsh
MindFree burst onto the scene in 2019 with shows at DiPiazza’s in Long Beach and The Doll Hut in Anaheim. Now they’re taking their unique energetic sound into the studio to record ten tracks which will become their debut album.
As drummer Moe Hashem put it, “Mark brought out the demon vocals today! Slayed Slayed Slayed that damn dragon!!!”
All of the band find themselves in a celebratory mood after a successful three days of recording. Vocalist and guitarist Mark Abbruzzese says: “We are very lucky to have found each other. We worked hard to obtain this wonderful moment in our band’s career!! Cheers to us and beautifully strange music we’ve created and will continue to create!!
Recording engineer CD Rios: “It’s such a pleasure to work with people that are passionate about their art and willing to bust some sweat to do it well.” Last Sunday CD and MindFree worked till 3:30 AM at EchoBar Studios in North Hollywood to finish the guitar tracks.
MindFree is Mark Abbruzzese on guitar and vocals, Moe Hashem on drums and percussion, and Keith Walsh on keyboards and bass synth. Positioned in Southern California, the band was created when Abbruzzese and Walsh, who have known each other since kindergarten, reconnected on Facebook in 2018. They set out to create a sound influenced by the artists they love, ranging from pop to hard rock, punk, new wave and glam. In October 2019 Hashem joined the band after Mark found him online, bringing a shared love for a variety of genres as well as proficiency in a variety of styles, including jazz and world music.
The new album is packed with energy and references to pop culture and the inspiring sounds that motivate MindFree. Stay tuned for more info about the debut album by MindFree.
